With the increase of the number of holes per unit area and the decrease of the thickness of the carrier hole wall, the thermal shock resistance of the ceramic carrier is increased, and the temperature of thermal shock damage is also increased. Therefore, honeycomb ceramics need to reduce the expansion coefficient and increase the number of holes per unit area. The coefficient of thermal expansion is the main performance index, and the current foreign level is α25-800 °C≤1.0×10-6 °C-1, which is a gap with the domestic comparison, but the gap is getting smaller and smaller. The raw materials for the production of honeycomb ceramics are mainly kaolin, talc, aluminum powder, clay, etc., especially the application of diatomaceous earth, zeolite, expansive soil and refractory materials.

In addition to honeycomb ceramics for sintering molding, unsintered honeycomb ceramics (honeycomb ceramic filters) have also appeared, which greatly improves the activity of catalytic properties. According to the different mold design; It can be made into honeycomb ceramics of different sizes, shapes and structures. For example, the molecular sieve catalyst used in the petrochemical industry for air adsorption and drying in oil refining has a size of up to 0.8m, a square width of 0.25m, and a hole count of 25 per square centimeter, which has changed greatly from the aspects of raw materials, processes and machinery manufacturing. In particular, the production process has been greatly improved. Honeycomb ceramics as catalysts need to be manufactured without cracking, organic components need to be released cleanly, mechanical strength in addition to wear resistance, and reuse multiple times.
